AleXsandro Palombo, a contemporary artist and activist, is threatened to be sued due to a controversial domestic violence campaign, where numerous celebrities are featured in photo-shopped images in order to look battered and bruised.
The images were created for the International Day for Elimination of Violence last month and were designed to show that anyone – even the rich and famous – can be a victim of domestic violence. The campaign called ‘No Woman is Immune from Domestic Violence’ included photo-shopped images from reality stars like Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner to actresses like Emma Watson and Angelina Jolie and singers like Miley Cyrus and Madonna.
Speaking of his project, the artist said: “Domestic violence is a social cancer that knows no boundaries nor social status, it can affect anyone, whether you’re an ordinary person or a celebrity. To defeat him you need to use the antidote of culture by educating and raising awareness on Respect and Equality. Each of us has do their part to help increase awareness and to change things by any means.”
However, despite the obvious good cause of the project, some of the celebrities were dissatisfied, claiming that they did not give permission for their photos to be used. According to TMZ, both Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner have asked lawyers to “issue a warning” to the artist.
