The Company President & Janitor
An immensely profound series of portraits that make us realize what we tend to forget. Well-known Los Angeles based photographer, Mark Laita, in his photo series called 'Created Equal ' , created the most powerful diptychs in order to depict the contrast between individuals, their life choices and occupations. However, looking at the photos, we realize that the artist's will was not to underline our differences but to accentuate the things we have in common. Because, at the end of the day, we're all created equal, even if sometimes the circumstances brought it otherwise.
Mark, refering to this project, said: "In America the chasm between rich and poor is growing, the clash between conservatives and liberals is strengthening, and even good and evil seem more polarized than ever before. At the heart of this collection of diptychs is my desire to remind us that we were all equal, until our environment, circumstance or fate molded and weathered us into whom we have become."
If you liked 'Created Equal ' , Mark Laita has published a coffee table book with the entire collection of portraits that it's sold to his official site.
