Magnificent Photos of Beautiful Libraries around the World

Oval Reading Room, Bibliothèque nationale de France (Paris, France)

"House of Books" is the title of this amazing series by French-born and New York based photographer Franck Bohbot. Bohbot travelled all over the globe seeking for the most impressive libraries of the world in order to capture their beauty and pay tribute to the their significance as cultural pillars. From Rome to Tokyo to Paris, he creates a visual record of the buildings that shelter science, art, knowledge, culture and education.

Modern or classic, minimalistic or rococo decorated, these breathtaking photos create a feeling of awe in a world that books are in crisis. However, nothing can be compared to the cozy feeling of a library, the smell of a new book or the sight of shelves full of them.
