Thinking of surfing and skateboarding, it would never crossed my mind anything closely to classic art. However, thanks to this innovative collaboration, surfboards and skateboards embrace classical art. Boom-art and the European surf company UWL joined their forces and created 504, a series of surfboards and skate decks picturing the work of famous artists Jan Davidsz de Heem (1606 - 1684) and Gustav Klimt (1862 - 1918). The boards with de Heem’s work feature his dramatic flower compositions while Klimt’s collection include his signature figures, displaying his most famous artwork, The Kiss.
All surfboards and skateboards are handcrafted by UWL. They’ve made a limited edition of 10 of every piece and they are individually numbered. Each comes with a certificate of manufacture, carrying case, and hooks for exhibiting the artwork on the wall. In the case of surfboards, fins are included, too.
